Alfred Edgar Coppard (1878 - 1957) was a British author of short stories and poetry. His current humorous book told the story of two "spoilt dilettante bachelors." The illustrator, Victor Candell (1903 - 1977), was born in Budapest, Hungary and by the time he was 15, he would be a successful graphic designer and poster artist. He studied in Paris and New York, illustrated numerous books and magazines, and taught at the Columbia School of Painting, the Brooklyn Museum School of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, and others.
