Title: The Great Reformation," a Great Mistake [Signed/Inscribed by Author]
Description: San Francisco: Press of the James A. Barry Co. 1912. First edition; 7 3/4 x 5 1/4; pp. 342; 1/2 brown morocco and marbled boards; gilt title and ruling to spine; a few rubbed spots to bottom edge of boards; minor wear to spine; very good or better condition. Signed and inscribed by the author on the first blank leaf. Everett Pomeroy (1839 - 1918) was a devout Catholic, author, composer, and a renowned organist. He was also the owner of an imposing castle, sometimes referred to as Kinswood Tower, in Pacific Grove, California, that was an exact replica of his ancestral castle in Devonshire, England. The building would represent the transformation of the little town - from a resort to a permanent residential community. The current book, his first and only one, touched on the doctrinal and controversial works and the Catholic Church. Ill.: 0. 2.
