Vasil' Lepikash (1887 - 1980) was a Ukrainian military leader, author, businessman, and philanthropist. He was a member of the Socialist Revolutionary Party and later, during the Revolution, he served in the Army of the UNR (Ukrainian National Republic). He emigrated to the US in 1923, founded the Ukrainian National Museum in Ontario, California in 1954 and was its President until 1958, was a member of the Ukrainian-American Foundation, Wake Up America, the Ukrainian Republican Committee of the State of New Jersey, the United Ukrainian American Relief Committee, the Congress of Freedom, and others. He traveled to Ukraine in 1939 and assembled an incredible archive of photographs, documenting the short-lived history of Carpatho-Ukraine, its government, and its Hungarian invasion (nowadays, the collection is housed at Harvard University). Lepikash wrote several books, including the current one on the complex Ukrainian-Jewish relations. Ill.: 0. 2.
