Description: Lausanne: Librarie Centrale Des Nationalites rue Caroline, 1918. Softcover. First edition; 5 1/4 x 8; pp. 29; brown wraps printed in black; a few minor spots to margins of wraps; small indentation to back wrap and last several pages; very good. Dobrudja is a historic region between the lower Danube River and the Black Sea, presently shared between Romania and Bulgaria. Originally settled by Thracian tribes in the 6th century and was part of the Bulgarian Kingdom until the Ottoman Empire occupied it in the 1520s. After the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78, the Congress of Berlin awarded South Dobruja to Bulgaria and North Dobruja to Rumania. The Treaty of Bucharest of 1913 ceded South Dobruja to Rumania, a provision which remained in effect until 1940, when the Bulgarian-Rumanian Treaty of Craiova returned possession of South Dobruja to Bulgaria. Ill.: 0. 2.
