Addressed to one Mademoiselle Theodora Einhoust, merchant of lace in Paris, the letter read: "Please accept my apologies, Mademoiselle, for not having sent any news, and even now I am not sending you the five hundred livers that I owe you, in truth Mademoiselle, the exchange rate is very poor and the costs related to my departure for the army have depleted all of my resources for the moment. Nevertheless, rest assured that I shall not defer the necessary payments. I have spoken to Prince Shcherbatov about his debt to you and he has promised me that he will soon send you the sum, please be patient and I hope that you can do this for my sake. I gave, Mademoiselle, your address to Prince Belosselsky who is leaving shortly for Paris where it appears he will stay for some time. As he is going there with the Princess and her group I hope this will be of practical convenience. Be assured that I would not let this occasion go by without expressing to you how much I am, Madamoiselle your very humble and obedient servant, V.P. Dolgorukov St. Petersburg 10/21 July 1760" Prince Vladimir Dolgorukov (1696-1761) was a Russian General and Governor of Livonia and Estonia. The name Dolgorukov, or Dolgorukii ("with a long arm") could be traced back to the founder of that particular Royal branch Prince Ivan Andreevich Oblenskii (1400s), who was given the nickname Dolgorukii for his vengefulness. The other two Royal figures mentioned in the letter were Prince Mikhail Mikhailovich Shcherbatov - statesman, historian, writer and philosopher, and a leading ideologue and exponent of the Russian Enlightenment and a unidentified prince of the Belosselsky (Belozersky) Royal family.
