After spending some time and working in Palestine, the author settled in Paris where he quickly became close friends with other Russian intellectuals including Remizov and Bunin. That period marked the beginning of his short, but remarkable literary career. He published 4 collections of novellas and short stories, including the present one, most of which reflected his memories and love for the simple life of his native Siberia. Ill.: 0. 2.
