II pp. 284; light blue cloth over boards (also published in green cloth with the blue variation much more uncommon); brown morocco label with title in gilt; small rubbed spots to corners; age-toning to spine; slight darkening and a faint ripple to cloth along margins of boards; pages mostly very clean with a few spots of foxing to first and last pages only; very good-. Charlotte Mary Yonge (1823 – 1901) was a prolific British author, writing more than 150 novels during her career, and a favorite writer to Lewis Carroll, George Eliot, and Lord Tennyson among others. She was also known for donating large portions of her earnings to funding charitable endeavors. Her current work was a historical novel set in 16th-century France during the peak of the Hugenots' persecutions. Ill.: 0. 2.
