Volume V (the last of 5) of this richly illustrated work published in commemoration of the 100-year anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812. The French Invasion of Russia began in June 1812 when Napoleon's Army crossed the Neman River in an attempt to compel Tsar Alexander I to stop trading with Great Britain but with the ultimate aim at Poland from the threat of Russia. The French would be defeated 6 months later with that campaign becoming a turning point in the Napoleonic Wars, severely shaking Napoleon's reputation, and dramatically weakening the French hegemony in Europe.
