Professor Georgii Chelpanov was a renowned Russian psychologist and philosopher of the neo-Kantianism and Positivism schools in the late 19th and the early 20th centuries. He was the founder of the Psychological Institute at Moscow University and one of his books, "The Brain and the Soul" (1900), was described in V. Zenkovsky's book on the history of Russian philosophy as 'the best not only in Russian but in world literature.' His textbook of Psychology was the one commonly used not only in Russia but in emigre communities abroad as well. Ill.: 0. 3.
