Signed and inscribed by the author. Gizella Lakhman was a Ukrainian poet of the Acmeist tradition, a translator, and a bibliographer. She emigrated to New York in 1941 and soon became close with members of the Circle of Russian Poets in America. Gizella's current collection of poetry - her second - included 100 original poems and translations of works by Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, and Edna St. Vincent Millay. Her works have been said to be similar to Acmeism's creator Nikolai Gumilev's for her use of lyric miniatures and direct allusions. Ill.: 0. 2.
