Apart from numerous recipes using Calumet Baking Powder, the booklet also contains household hints on cleaning, preserving, and overall health, as well as testimonials and a side-by-side comparison Calumet Baking Powder and other brands. Calumet Baking Powder Company was established in 1889 by William Monroe Wright. Calumet Baking Powder is considered symbolic and significant in Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining." Cans of it with the Indian Chief logo appear several times in the movie and it has been said that they signified Kubrick's hidden meaning of a murder of a race.
