Complete text of the first two volumes in one volume. 12 mo. 276 pp. + 3 pp. Contents. Author was a French journalist who spent five months in the U.S. in the run up before the French Revolution. He traveled from Boston to Virginia "to study men who had just acquired their liberty". His journal was published in French in three volumes, the first two reprinted here in English translation. (The third volume dealt with commerce between America and Europe.) Mild offset toning within the text block, pages otherwise clean, unmarked, no foxing. Original endpapers frayed along edges with some offset darkening, small fingertip chip off front edge of page 170, else a very good, well preserved early American imprint in a fine, attractive binding. Very Good/No Jacket, As Issued.
