First edition of this beautiful book dedicated to courtesans and gallantry.Text and illustrations by the artist Henri Boutet (1851-1919).The charming illustration, one of Boutet's best productions, is composed of 30 compositions reproduced in lithograph by Léon Marotte, including two on the covers, one on the title (in sanguine) and twenty-seven outside text with colour highlights.Only 161 copies of the edition were printed; one of the 109 on vellum of the Marais (Our copy n° 89) initialled by Henri Boutet.Luxury binding, from the 1920s perfectly set in dark brown half-morocco, smooth back adorned with two small horizontal stripes of mosaic red morocco, golden head, uncut, cover and spine preserved. The spine is slightly exposed otherwise the binding is in excellent condition. Sporadic slight foxing, denser on the covers.With the bookplate (Ex-Libris) of Jacques Crépineau (1932-2017), director of the Théâtre de la Michodière. Paris, On sale at the Librairie Lahure, 1913.
