G.Pattrick was born at the farmhouse of his grandfather in the small hamlet of Shouldham Thorpe in Norfolk. This book tells of his early life. His boarding school youth, time as a medical student at Cambridge, and as a volunteer escorting parties of children to Canada. He then joined the University of London Air Squadron and started flying training at RAF Northolt and after graduating became a ferry pilot with the ATA. After the war he returned to East Anglia where he became a doctor at Wisbech and spent the next 30 years working mostly in the Fens.
