Title: Une Histoire du Japon, a travers son art.
Description: Japan. Toppan Printing Co. 1965. First French Edition. Quarto. Hardcover. Fine. Fine. 296 Pages, Text in French. Richly illustrated in colour and black and white images. Ex Libris: Maurice Champoud (Mr Champoud, a Nestle director in Japan acquired, driven by his love for Japanese Art, a very large Japanese Library. This is one of the last books we have from this library.) This book states with great verve the rich history of Japan, from 552 AD until 1912, with all its wars, influences of religion (as budhism and shinto) and foreign trade. A great way to a better insight in the Japanese culture and how it's people reacted to the time frames is through its art and artists. The arteffects shown in this book were found in museums, temples and some of the greatest private collections known in the Western world, such as the Freer Gallery in Washington. A great book for anyone who is interested in Japanese history and its art.
