The Palace Museum of the Forbidden City is this year celebrating its 80th anniversary of its establishment as a museum and this is one of the exhibitions. Here you will see 200 pieces Chinese porcelain and pottery that was exported to Sweden in the 18th century but also treasures from the Palace Museum. The objects are owned by six Swedish Museums. The exhibition shows the extraordinary trade contacts that has been established between Sweden and China for centuries. The Swedes were trading Spanish silver for porcelain and silk1730 and the trade started in 1730. The trading ships sailed from Gothenburg, rounded Cape Horn and ended up in Guangzhou. In July 2006 will this harbour once again be visited by the ship Gothenburg, a replica of one of these ancient trading ships.
