Vuilleumier, Bernard - The Art of Silk Weaving in China: Symbolism of Chinese Imperial Ritual Robes

Title: The Art of Silk Weaving in China: Symbolism of Chinese Imperial Ritual Robes
Description: London. The China Institute. 1939. First edition. Quarto. Softcover. Very good. 36 Pages, 14 black and white plates, 2 text illustrations. Bernard Vuilleumier was a Swiss banker and collector of Chinese silks and imperial robes. This handbook accompanied a display of his collection of Chinese robes in London in 1939. Today, the book is regarded as a blueprint of Orientalist fantasy, although it retains some credence among collectors. Vuilleumier's extensive collection was purchased by the Victoria and Albert Museum upon his death. Scarce in this condition!.
