Auction Catalogue 3 volumes, first part contains black and white reproductions on drawings, the second part pictures on paintings and sculpture, the third part contains furniture and decorative art objects. In total 357 lots. Jacques Doucet (1853-1929) was a Parisian haute-couture designer who in 1874 started to collect contemporary paintings but also eighteenth-century art and objects. In 1912 Doucet sold his collection of eighteenth-century art to replace this for works by, for example, Monet, Van Gogh and Cezanne. From 1909 doucet opened a library on art and archaeology for the public. Doucet donated his collection of art books and research to the University of Paris when he died in 1929. In his honour the University created the 'Librairie Literaire Jacques Doucet'.
