He was a military man who fought the Turks as they attacked Vienna. His talent for telling his war stories were written down by a man called Rudolph Erich Raspe, who added a thing or two..or three. His stories became so outrageous that the Baron himself was accused of lying and he withdrew from public life. This book is a German translation from the Raspe edition.
