Title: Carmina,
Description: Lutetiae Parisiorum [Paris]: J. Barbou, 1754. 12mo., pp.xxiv, 299, [i] + engraved frontispiece. Colophon reads "Typis viduĉ Delatour". Very clean, tissue bound between frontis and title. Recent tan polished calf, spine heavily gilt, gilt borders to boards, marbled edges and endpapers. A few small marks and scratches, very good indeed. Ownership inscription of H.W. Moule to preliminary blank. Étienne André Philippe de Prétot (1710-1787) produced between 1747 and 1755 many editions of Latin classics for the Parisian publisher Antoine-Urbain Coustelier. He based this edition of Horace on the 1728 Parisian edition of Sanadon who, according to Dibdin, 'chiefly followed Bentley and Cunningham, especially the latter.' (Dibdin II, 107).
