The Oxford Movement witnessed a more elaborate liturgy within the Anglican service which was reflected in the architecture and acoutrements employed. The two works here examine the use of ornaments, communion tables, candlesticks, crosses and other similar aspects of the liturgy. They are interesting not only for their legal opinions, but for the historical information they contain, much of which draws on the practices of the 16th and 17th centuries. ** From the Gladstone library at Fasque.
