Description: London, John W. Parker. 1837, Second Edition. Green Cloth, 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Book, xvii, 240 pages, 8 pages of publisher's advertisements at rear, frontispiece, engraved title page and 6 b/w plates. Old name and date 1837 on front endpaper, also some later writing in biro on front endpaper. The first edition was not illustrated. There is an illustration of a 'Settler's tent at Freemantle'. The Wanstead left England in August 1829. After staying 7 weeks at the Swan River settlement the voyage continued to the River Derwent and Hobart Town in Tasmania. Then through Torres Strait to Copang in Timor and Singapore. The ship also stopped for a while at the Nicobar islands before proceeding to Rangoon and then eventually returning to England.
