Together with the publishers 28 page booklet titled "Notes From The Editor". Birmingham, Alabama; The Classics of Medicine Library / Gryphon Editions; 1983. The printing was prepared from the first edition of 1868. Addison's papers are small in number, but are rich in original contributions to medicine. Credit may appropriately be given to Addison as the founder of endocrinology, since he was the first to show that a diseased condition could result from a defective ductless gland. However, he is most remembered for his discovery of two diseases, both of which bear his name, "Addison's Anaemia," and "Addison's Disease."
