John Coakley (1744-1814) was an English physician and philanthropist, he found the Medical Society of London, and the General Dispensary in Aldersgate Street, in 1791 Lettsom won the society's Forthergillian prize for a treatise entitled "Diseases of Great Towns and the Best Means of Preventing them.
