Cloth rear board, front board and front free endpaper missing, spine retaped, title page is half deteriorated (facsimile replacement attached), dampstaining to first few pages of text, contents mildly age-toned, all plates are sound. This document includers the historic detailed proposal for the improvement of the water supply for Brooklyn New York in 1854. The proposal consists of 145 pages of details on how to supply the water, the details of the negotiations with suppliers and construction specifications. In addition there are 27 meticulously engraved plates showing plans for various construction requirements along the supply route, such as canals, ponds, pipes, conduits, reservoirs, engine house, etc. Despite the imperfections of this book, the complete text and illustrations that are all present, make this an exceptional historical record.
