Title: The Philosophy of Dress
Description: New York, Bonwit Teller & Co. 1925. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Hardcover. 16 pages unpaginated. Medieval design paper over boards. Rubbing to corners, contents age-toned and some foxing mainly to endpapers and last page, Bonwit Teller presentation bookplate on front pastedown. This bound pamphlet on the history and ethnology of costume, was written by M.D.C. Crawford expressly for Bonwit Teller, in conjunction with Bonwit Teller's seies of educational lectures in schools and colleges in 1925 on the History of Costume. The bookplate presents the book to a student of Stevens College on her apparent completion of the course. The presentation is dated 8-14-46. Photographs of mannikins dressed in period costumes throughout the book. An interesting bit of retail faxhion ephemera. Very Good.
