Description: New York, C.M. Saxton, 1848. 3rd Edition, 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Hardcover. Various. Inscribed by Author(s). Both volumes brown contemporary calf, 4 raised bands, black leather label, gilt lettered. No date, but publisher's address is 123 Fulton Street indicating probable publication of 1848. 96 plates, (many tinted) of renderings in the 2 volumes, elevations and layouts with accompanying text. Both volumes are lightly scuffed but bindings are square and sound. Volume I has faint dampstaining in varying degrees to the upper portions of about 10 plates and occasional foxing. Volume II is mainly free of foxing and has minor dampstaining to 3 plates and very slight waviness to a few leaves. Owner's name on endpapers of both volumes. Most plates are virtually free of any defects, and both volumes are in a very welll-preserved condition. A wide range of architectural styles are shown, from Roman classic to country log cabin, with one home estimated to be able to be constructed for $100. There is a total of 96 plates in the 2 volumes. Good/No Jacket.
