Marbled edges. 4 volumes: vii, [1], 306; 276; 260; 331 [1] pp. Illustrated as follows - v1: 2 copperplate engravings, folding genealogical chart of Mexican Kings, lacks map; v2: 16 [of 17?] copperplate engravings, 5 folding; v3: lacking plate & map. Head- tailpieces throughout. 4to. 10-3/8" x 7-1/8". General binding wear & soiling, with v2 exhibiting an old rebacking [and white cloth hinge reinforcment] & v4 with amateurish brown cloth respining. Some worming, but not excessive. Age-toning to paper, with the occasional expected interior spot, blemish, etc. v3 with po pencil notes to p. 151, in bottom margin. Overall, a VG set A seminal 18th C. work on the history of Mexico, and while this set is imperfect, nor will it win any beauty awards, it is eminently servicable, textually complete, and [comparatively] affordable.
