By the end of 1858, the seminary closed, mired in falling enrollment and heavily in debt.  [Binghamton Press, 20 Sept 2019]. It is this latter circumstance which Carver addresses in his interesting p. 4 ALs to Mr Tracy.. therein Carver assures Mr Tracy of a forthcoming $20 payment, acknowledging the institution's financial difficulties, noting ".. we have not paid interest to any one else but that is about 1/2 of the interest and principal of your claim. We do not get our Loan yet and, may not at all. Our school is pleasant." A rare document from this short-lived mid-19th C. New York State educational institution.
