Description: [St Louis?]: [Brown Shoe Company], (n. d.). Ca late teens. Now housed in an archival mylar sleeve. Single sheet of brown card stock, 11" x 6-5/8", printed in white, yellow & pale green. Verso with fold-out cardboard triangular 'arm'. Signs of use, but not extensively so. Very Good. Initially founded in 1878, under the name Bryan, Brown & Company, the firm became Brown Shoe Company in 1893, growing into one of the largest shoe manufacturers in the US. In 1917, they secured some lucrative military contracts with the United States government, and it is from this era we surmise comes this advertising artifact.
