There are two cuts or gashes at the bottom of the spine, 1/4" and 1" in length. Very slight wear to boards, minor bumps to covers. The front cover has a cracked hinge but binding remains tight and strong. Pages are clean with no foxing. Gives the history of Michigan's Grand River Valley. Includes histories of the early settlements and settlers, Indian mythologies, missions, schools and churches and the lumber and trapping industries. The book is invaluable for genealogical research in the area, as it Includes the names and relationships of many men and women in the text proper and also has a biographical section including sketches of major personalities. 545 pages in the text proper with another 74 pages in the biographical section. A solid and attractive copy of the first edition, published in 1878. Scarce. Small 4to 9" - 11" tall. 619 pages. T4. Very Good.
