Marbled endpapers with handsome bookplate of Hughson Hawley on verso on front pastedown. Binding is tight, pages are clean. Lacking 3 of the 4 maps called for in the map pocket; only the 22.5" square "Chart of North Polar Regions" is present, in Fine condition. The eight colored plates are all present. Volume I only of Nansen's classic work. A handsome, scarce copy of this edition, published only one year after the first. 8vo 8" - 9" tall. 587 pages. T1. Very Good.
