Description: Map of Monnikendam. On the top left the coat of arms of the city; on the top right the title: 'MONNEKEDAM' and the legenda with the explanation of the relevant buildings in the print. Below is the scale: 'Pedes Geometrici' .This plate was used in Johannes Willemszoon Blaeu’ s ‘Toonneel der steden van de Vereenighde Nederlanden’ published in 1652. This impression is larger than the other appearing in the 1649 edition along with other three plates showing Edam, Medemblik, and Purmerend. Engraving on paper with some margin on the top and on the right; plate mark: 215 x 260 mm, total: 222 x 277 mm; in great condition.
