Description: A hand coloured optical view of The Hague in The Netherlands (gezicht van de Prinsessengracht en Koekamp naar de Nieuwe Uitleg). This scene shows the 'Koekamp'. On the left side large bourgeoisie houses line the street, while the canal on the right is confined by a large hedge. On the street wealthy dressed people walking. The print is coloured in pastel-like tones.On bottom two lines in Dutch and French: 'T GESIGHT van de PRINCESSE GRAST en COUCAMP SIENDE NAAR de NIEUWEN UQT LIG. / VUE du PRINCESSE ET du COUCAMP REGARDANT / LE QUARTIER NEUF.', ca. 1770. Etching and engraving on paper, hand colored; plate mark: 316 x 423 mm, total: 346 x 448 mm. Some foxing, pen marks on the top margin, not affecting the plate, overall in good condition.
