Description: Leather bound hardcover with gilded decoration on boards and spine. The book contains hand decorated endpapers with ex libris (H. Stalpeart) in the front. The spine shows two small tears at the front and bottom and the corners are a bit worn. Some of the pages show finger smudges. Overall the book is in good condition. 10 x 16 cm, [12] 1-304 [2] pp. Engraved title page by J. van Noord and 17 untitled engravings throughout the text. Some stories are accompanied by small vignettes which sometimes correspond to the text. This rare second edition contains the original 75 fables and comments by Hermanus Theodorus Terkamp (? -1780) of the first edition. For this new version the book is edited and supplemented by W. H. Gryp with 55 more fables.
