BAIREI KONO [1844-95] An album of woodcuts of insects in natural surroundings, some with predators such as lizards or frogs, printed in black, pale brown and tones of grey.
Dated Meiji 36 [1903] 25 double-page woodcuts 185 x 240 mm., with a couple of pages of text at beginning and end, bound concertina-style with orange paper stiff wrappers. One plate has two small blots of watercolour in the margin away from the image, otherwise a very good copy.
