O'Meara was an Irish physician who became the ex-emperor's best friend at St. helena, untill the moment he was forced to return to England. Even though this source is strongly pro-Napoleon, it is important as an account of an eye witness of the first half of Napoleon's exile. This edition is rare. With the book plate of Mr. Adriën Telders (1843-1913), a member of the Dutch patrician Telders family, who a.o. became vice-president of the Hoge Raad der Nederlanden.
