Title: Journal de la vie privée et des conversations de l'Empereur Napoléon, à Sainte Hélène.
Description: Londres: Henri Colburn et Co. et M. Bossange et Co., 1823 (8 parts in 4 vols.); together 2,964pp., 3 engraved maps, 1 engraved view, index per part, 8vo, marbled end-papers, embossed full calf bindings (by J. Tate, Belfast) with raised bands and gilt title and volume shields, broken silk marker in 3 of the 4 vols. Slight traces of normal chafing on all vols., but otherwise a splendid set of this English edition in French. ¶ Napoleon's personal medical officer kept diaries between the Emperor's abdication in June 1815 and November 1818. This book is considered as a serious source of knowledge of Napoleon's afterdays. The same 8 parts in 4 vols. were also published in Paris, also in 1823, but this English edition is much rarer, and the full calf eidtion even more.
