Even with slight foxing at the end-papers and a tiny bit on two of the text-pages, this copy is in an amazingly good condition. ¶ many full-page and smaller high-quality romantic Victorian sepia illustrations by Alice Havers (1850-1890, patronised by Q. Victoria), Gertrude D. Hammond (1862-1952, in this book her earliest work published) and Harriet M. Bennett (1882-1892, this book the only title of her work mentioned in The dict. of 19th c. British book illustrators), accompanying 16th to 19th century caligraphed romatic poems.
