Ekkart, Rudi: - Dutch and Flemish Painting: Portraits 1600-1800. Old Masters' Gallery Catalogues, Szépművészeti Moezeum Budapest, Volume 1.

Title: Dutch and Flemish Painting: Portraits 1600-1800. Old Masters' Gallery Catalogues, Szépművészeti Moezeum Budapest, Volume 1.
Description: 2011, (23,7 x 29,7 cm), 304 pp. English text, some 150 ills. (mostly colour), hardcover. ¶ The Budapest collection of Dutch Old Master paintings is one of the largest in the world outside the Netherlands and Belgium. This first volume of its catalogue raisonné series discusses one hundred and five Dutch and Flemish portraits from 1600 to 1800, and presents great masters such as Anthony van Dyck, Frans Hals, Thomas de Keyser, and Bartholomeus van der Helst, as well as fine works by other leading portraitists from nearly all the famous centres of Dutch painting. This volume is the first systematic overview of this part of the Budapest collection and contains the results of recent investigations: new attributions, names of sitters, and data concerning provenance. The text is in English and Hungarian. Rudi E.O. Ekkart, former director of the Rijksbureau voor Kunsthistorische Documentatie in The Hague, is the leading authority on seventeenth-century Dutch and Flemish portraits. He is professor of art history at Utrecht University.
