Title: Diagnoses plantarum orientalium novarum. Series I-II [Complete].
Description: Geneva, 1842-1859 [REPRINT 1969]. 19 parts in three. 8vo (18.7 x 12.8 cm) 2,280 pp., three portraits, one map, two plates with proofs of his handwriting. Unifom green cloth with gilt title on spines. = A very good reprint, with additional indexes and with a new introduction by the botanist K. H. Rechinger. The original is almost impossible to find, and also the reprint is quite uncommon. It mainly deals with the Flora of Turkey, Syria, Palestina, Jordania, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Beluchistan and the northern part of Saudi Arabia including Kuwait and the Emirates. It was published in three "volumes" in two "series", Series 1 containing volumes 1-2, and series 2 containing volume 3. Some dealers of modern reprints claim to have volume 4. This do NOT exist. ADDED (loosely inserted): The introduction by Rechinger, with a biography of Edmond Boissier, as separately issues in a small booklet with printed wrappers. A very good, clean and complete set. Stafleu and Cowan, 607.
