Description: London, The Linnean Society of London, 1889. 8vo (22.2 x 14.2 cm). 107 pp.; 44 lithographed plates. Original printed wrappers. = Trained at Cambridge, the botanist Charles Baron Clarke (1832-1906) travelled extensively in Bengal, Assam, Kashmir, Nepal, and Bhutan collecting and meticulously documenting the native flora. He constructed a massive herbarium that was eventually given to the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew. This work deals with the flora of northeastern India, Nagaland and Manipur, both bordering Myanmar (Burma). Published as the Society's entire Journal, volume XXV(165-169). Wrappers frayed and chipped at edges; spine cover mostly gone. Some foxing throughout. Damp stain to the top margin of the last few plates; otherwise a very good, complete copy.
