Title: Mémoires pour servir à l'histoire naturelle des crustacés.
Description: Paris, C. Thuau, 1829. 8vo (21.0 x 13.2 cm). 155 pp.; 15 engraved plates [numbered 49, 24-32, 2-6; mostly large, folded]. Original printed wrappers. = A rarely seen publication on the anatomy of larger crustaceans (crabs, lobsters, etc.), by two of the foremost invertebrate zoologist of the 19th century, Jean Victoire 'Victor' Audouin (1797-1841), and Henri Milne Edwards (1800-1885). The plates were also published in the Annales des Sciences naturelles, which may explain their odd numbering. The front wrapper and title state 'Premier fascicule,' but this is all that was publised. Provenance: copy of the leading French crustaceologist of the 20th century, Jacques Forest (1920-2012). Entirely uncut, thus with the edges creased and with an occasional tear or small chip. Front wrapper detached. Some light spotting throughout, otherwise very good. Not in Nissen ZBI.
