"Dalbergia is a large genus of small to medium-size trees, shrubs and lianas in the pea family, Fabaceae, ... The genus has a wide distribution, native to the tropical regions of Central and South America, Africa, Madagascar and southern Asia" (Wikipedia). In this synopsis, the author gives a description, synonymy, distribution and personal observations for each species and known varieties. Some are new. The work is concluded with an index to genera and species. With a handwritten dedication by the author to the Ipswitch Museum. Published as a supplement to the Society's Journal of the Proceedings, volume IV, Botany. Uncut. Front wrapper detached (easily restored); small stamp of the Ipswitch Free Libraries Reference Library on front wrapper and title page verso, and a printed label by the same on the front wrapper's blank verso; otherwise a very good copy. Not in Stafleu and Cowan.
