Spine with red morocco label with gilt ornamental bands and title. = This work on mines in Silesia (now mostly Poland), and in particular on the coal seams and their fractures, is a separate print from the Archiv für Mineralogie, Geognosie, Bergbau und Hüttenkunde. The author, the German mining engineer Rudolf Von Carnell (1804-1874) was the director of the Oberbergamt in Breslau [Wroclaw, Poland]. The mineral, Carnallite has been named after him. Library stamp on title page. The errors listed in the errata sheet corrected, more marginal annotations in red and black in an old hand, otherwise a very good copy. Very rare. Poggendorff 3, p. 237.
