Two title pages, 222 pp.; 58 text illustrations, 17 lithographed plates, of which 12 in chromoltihography, and one being a coloured map. Later grey buckram with gilt title on the spine and original front wrapper mounted on the front board. Speckled edges. = A rarely seen monograph of Atlantic Anthozoa (sea anemones). With excellent illustrations. Part of the Ergebnisse der in dem Atlantischen Ocean von Mitte Juli bis anfang November 1889 ausgeführten Plankton-Expedition der Humboldt-Stiftung (Band II, part H.e.). In contrast to most parts not written in German, but in French. The author, Édouard Joseph Louis Marie Van Beneden (1846-1910), was a Belgian marine zoologist, and son of the Belgian zoologist and palaeontologist Pierre-Joseph van Beneden. Some wear to the front board, otherwise a very good copy.
