Title: First annual report on the geology of Vermont. 1845.
Description: Burlington, VT, Chauncey Goodrich, 1845. 8vo (24.0 x 14.8 cm). 92 pp. One folding, coloured map. Original printed wrappers. = The seldom-seen first Annual Report, with detailed information on the minerals and ores of the State, and their occurrence. Written by the geologist and malacologist Charles Baker Adams (1814-1853), who died of yellow fever during a shell collecting trip in the Caribbean. Small old stamp of the Muséum d'Histoire naturelle (Paris) on the front wrapper and title, and another small stamp "Système d'échange internationale A. V.". Front wrapper detached, frayed and chipped at left edge. Adams's name and a title translation into French in an old hand on the front wrapper, otherwise a very good, clean copy.
