Description: London, The Linnean Society of London, 1810-1811. Large 4to (27.9 x 22.1 cm). 420 pp. (iv, 414 [ii]); 32 engraved plates of which two hand-coloured, one large, double-folded table. Later half half calf over linen boards. Gilt title on spine. Speckled edges. = Rare early (tenth) volume of this important zoological and botanical magazine. With 22 numbered, often well-illustrated papers of which several include descriptions, illustrations and newly introduced names of new species of animals and plants. This includes William Maton's Description of seven new species of Testacea, with a hand-coloured plate, and several on the botany of Australia, with new species (illustrated), e.g. by James Edward Smith, and by Edward Rudge. No library markings. Rather foxed throughout; some offsetting, otherwise good, complete.
