Tome I - V. [Complete].
Description: Paris, Roret, 1836. Five parts in three. 12mo (12.4 x 8.3 cm). Five titles and half-titles, [I-II: 243, 246; III-IV: 252, 234; V: 265] pp.; one folded table and 46 engraved plates (numbered 2-6, 9-11, 13-46, 49). 20th-century red buckram with gilt title on spines. = Third and last edition of a work by the French malacologist Louis Auguste Guillaume Bosc d’Antic (1759-1828). It was conceived as a continuation of Buffon. It deals with 'Coquilles'; largely molluscs, and a few brachiopods and foraminifers. All plates are present, but their numbering and order of placement is rather random. Nissen did not collate this edition, but recorded 41, and "94" (error for 44) plates for the first and second edition. Stamp of the American malacologist Richard Irwin Johnson (1925-2020) in the top margin of the front free endpapers and first blanks. Damp-staining in the lower gutter, expanding over the lower inner quarter of many leaves; otherwise a good copy. Caprotti II, p. 10 [174]; Nissen ZBI, 476.
