Marbled edges. = Separately published part of the famous Coleopterorum Catalogus edited by S. Schenkling. Written by the German entomologist Heinrich Bickhardt (1873-1920), a leading expert on clown beetles, or hister beetles. The author's copy, interleaved, and with numerous annotations in the author's hand. Apparently, Bickhardt gathered more additional information, and noted several corrections, perhaps for a second, expanded and corrected edition. Such an edition, however, was never published. Perhaps death interfered. The binding is luxurious, the embossed boards are peculiar. Author's stamp on the first blank recto. Some wear to the leather, near the hinges, otherwise a very good, unique copy.
